How to Fix Things that are Broken in Your Social Media Marketing Campaign(s)

Updated: Aug 12

Sometimes when you send out campaigns via Google or Facebook or any other social media platform such as Instagram, Twitter, or Snapchat, there are many errors and false accusations or perhaps just content that is just plain wrong aka misinformation (lies), you need to correct your mistakes. How do you correct the mistakes that you make when the campaign has already begun? Or, if you neglect your campaign and let it run without checking the status of where it is at? Then you may run into a lot of issues. Can they be fixed? Everything can be fixed. Let’s dive into solutions on how to fix your marketing campaigns.

Let’s say you run a marketing campaign on Facebook for 7 days.

How much will you end up spending on this marketing campaign?

On average, Facebook charges about 94 cents per click or $12.07 per 1000 impressions. If you have an advertisement campaign which is focused on getting likes or app downloads, you will end up paying roughly $1.07 per like and $5.47 per download.

I’ve spent $140 dollars on one marketing campaign in the past which ran for about 14 days. The campaign cost about 10 dollars per day and reached out to roughly 1960 people. You can of course set your audience to specific people in an area and/or demographic to increase your effectiveness although when I first started out, I would set the region of the campaign and adjust the cost per day and the duration. You can set your budget, which is pretty much the most important thing you can do when you set up these advertising campaigns.

There are other platforms where you can set up marketing campaigns such as social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, etc. You can even set up a marketing campaign on different search engines such as Yahoo, Bing and Google. But be forewarned that if you don't set your budget, you could be charged way more than you think. So be careful! We will get more into this later.

Tip #1 - Find Out What is Broken

Figure out what is broken or what you think is not working in your marketing campaign. If you don't see results immediately. Don't worry, it takes time for the marketing campaign to run its course. Don't panic!

It is perfectly normal to be impatient and to want results fast. But these campaigns, unfortunately, do not have tools where you can monitor your progress, however, you can monitor how many people the campaign has reached and how much you have spent so far. So please, be patient and just take note of how long the campaign is and you could monitor the traffic on your website using the tools provided by the advertisement platforms. Most importantly, you need to see what is not working. It could be that you can't even launch the campaign because your payment did not go through. This happens a lot and sometimes you will not get a notification until it is too late. So, check your payment, check your content and you could even go as far as checking the comments on the campaign itself.

Make sure all your marketing channels are not being blocked or deplatformed in any way and when the campaign is over, do an analysis of the results or how many people that the campaign reached out to. If you are a micromanager, then you will want to view online statistics such as Google Analytics or some other tool to manage your traffic and workflows of the site. Most likely, in real-time so be on top of your campaign because you can fix them while they are running, or maybe it is that your site is broken, and you need to just fix it! Sometimes the errors are so easy to find, they are right in front of you from the get-go. So be a detective and find out what the heck is going on with your campaign!

Tip #2 - Fix It

Ok, so you have found the problem and you are ready to fix it. Or maybe you have already fixed it by now. Congratulations! Now, was that so hard? No, it wasn't. But sometimes issues are elusive and cannot be detected or identified that easily. Therefore, if you aren't seeing any results at all. I guess you can just give up then. Let the campaign drain your funds and oh, well, better luck next time, right? You can do better than that. I'm just kidding with that stuff but seriously. Fix it, just fix the problem, if you know what it is, and try not to second guess yourself. Just fix it. You can do it? Or maybe you can hire me to fix it for you. 😉

Tip #3 - Never Go Over Your Budget

Remember one thing... Never blow out your budget. What does that mean? It’s simple. If you don’t have the money allocated for the marketing campaigns, then do not go over your budget. Why am I telling you this? So many online marketers forget to cap their daily or monthly limit, so when the time comes and you must pay the advertising platform, you may not have enough money. The advertisers do not really appreciate that and will hold your campaigns and account hostage (so to speak) until you pay them back.

It is always good to go with advertisers that are more transparent and of course affordable, but if you want decent results with your marketing campaign, you will need to spend more than $200 or so dollars per month or per campaign. Anything less will achieve minimal results if not any at all. But of course, this is all up to you and your budget, CFO, Financial Advisor, VP of Marketing, etc. If your product sells itself and you do not need to spend that much on advertising costs, then, run your tiny little campaigns that may reach one customer if that. I’m not trying to discourage you from running your marketing campaigns, but please, just be smart about it. If your campaign fails to reach your goals, then, change it up and make it more attractive to your target audience. Tip #4 - Analyze Your Results

After the campaign has finally finished, you can analyze your results. Did you do a weeklong campaign? Was it a month-long campaign? Did your campaign last an entire year? Kudos! The longer the campaign the better you can assess where the strong points were in the campaign and where there may have been a few shortcomings. Either way, by checking the results, you can better determine where your campaign needs work, or if it was a success, to rinse and repeat.

After a few good or bad campaigns, you will start to realize what works and what does not work. Tip #5 - Finish Strong

Ok so you have had several campaigns and they are just not providing the results that you need or that your higher ups are expecting. What do you do? Well, if you are running low on budget and the end of the month is coming to a close, what do you do? That is a good question. The answer to that problem is... Organic traffic! What is organic traffic? Is it traffic that you see in front of Whole Foods? Simply put, organic traffic is a customer or visitor of your website who you guide to the website using a free post from a social media platform. You know that friend who posts stuff on his/her/non-binary/gay/lesbian/transgender/queer/? whatever page. It doesn't matter. Just as long as you do not pay for the post, if it's FREE, then you can guide people via IM (Instant Message), DM (Direct Message), or whatever VM (Virtual Message) I just made that up, but I'm sure one day it will be an actual thing. So, after spending about $200 or so on your marketing campaign, you actually get a few customers.

Hooray! That is very good indeed. Congratulations! You have an audience that is genuinely interested in your products/services/website. If you get more traffic than awesome, you are on your way to success and superstardom! What I'm trying to say is don't be discouraged if your campaigns do not seem to give you any results. That is the way it is these days, but if you are persistent and keep pushing forward, using organic traffic, if need be, and literally going out there and talking to people, if not online but in person. At the shopping mall, bar, restaurant, coffee shop, your favorite store, social club, hell you can even talk to people on the streets or at strip joints or gentlemen’s clubs to be more polite. Nobody cares where you talk to people, just as long as, you really talk to them and get them interested in your brand. If you can't talk to anyone, then be humble. Sit in the corner and expect zero results, because that is what you will get, zero traffic. You need to communicate with people in order for them to take interest in your idea or product. Period. So come up with a great story or introduction/pitch. Then if that fails of course you can come right back here and get some help. You can always use our chat system to reach out to us if you need a hand. We are always here to help you, because you are the one who catches the audience’s attention.

Don’t Forget to Add a Closing Statement

Keep it short. Restate your main point and tell your readers what you want them to do next. Don’t be shy. Just tell them: Buy Now, Click Here, Read This, and link to it. You can also invite them to leave a comment below your post.

I don't know this was in the blog template so, I am just going to go with the flow here. Yeah, have you ever heard of a CTA (Call-To-Action) yeah so I don't know if you've taken any marketing classes, but a CTA can actually help your marketing campaign's landing page or post. It makes the user have to make a decision and it will give them options in doing so. Buttons are great and we are all accustomed to using them so try to use some action buttons in your campaigns. Good luck! Oh, and if you don't want to use luck, please purchase one of our services right here

Hopefully, our luck can bring you success! Otherwise, I bid you farewell on your journey to send out massive error free social media marketing campaigns that produce awesome results!
